<p>Following in his older brother Sarfaraz Khan’s footsteps comes rising sensation Musheer Khan from Mumbai. Like Sarfaraz, who accomplished the same feat in the 2021–22 season, he pulled off a remarkable century in the Ranji Trophy final earlier this week after representing India in the ICC U-19 ODI World Cup.</p>

<p>For Musheer, 2024 has been an unforgettable year. After finishing second in the U19 World Cup in terms of runs scored behind India’s skipper Uday Saharan, he went on to make his first-class century and double-century in Mumbai’s semi-final match against Tamil Nadu.</p>
<p>Of course, there was also the century in the Ranji final that enabled Mumbai to put a massive 538 runs on the board for Vidarbha.</p>
<p>The 19-year-old claims he is not sad not to have an IPL contract this time around since he is more focused on representing India in Test cricket.</p>
<p>“IPL does not include my name. However, I don’t feel let down. I should play for Team India in Test cricket, according to my father. If not today, then tomorrow, the IPL will happen, Musheer said to PTI Video.</p>
<p>“I’m glad I have an extra year to be ready for the IPL. I’ll learn more about T20 cricket and how to be ready for it,” he said.</p>
<p>When Sarfaraz made his Test debut in Rajkot last month and hit two brilliant fifties in his maiden international match, he fulfilled his ambition of playing for India.</p>
<p>Mumbai won the 42nd Ranji Trophy, setting a new record, thanks in large part to Musheer.</p>
<p>“My brother inspires me much with his commitment and style of batting. We bat similarly to each other. Before the game (the Ranji final), he advised me to not put too much pressure on myself and to treat it like any other match, Musheer said.</p>
<p>“While it may appear to be a typical match from the outside, there is pressure on the field.” He advised me to trust my abilities and adhere to the procedure,” he said.</p>
<p>Being a member of Mumbai’s championship-winning team makes Musheer proud.</p>
<p>“We should be proud of the 42 championships we have collected. Here have played several outstanding players (for Mumbai). I’m thrilled to have represented Mumbai and taken home a title. In addition, I would like to congratulate and thank the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for all of their support. I hope people still support us in the same manner,” he said.</p>
<p>For Mumbai mainstay Dhawal Kulkarni, for whom the Ranji final marked the end of his first-class career, the victory was a fitting send-off.</p>
<p>“It’s amazing what he (Dhawal) has done for Mumbai and the support he has provided to Mumbai cricket. We were all very motivated by the speech he delivered before the final, Musheer said.</p>
<p>It was his last game. We were overcome with passion and wanted to give Dhawal bhai the trophy. We wanted him to go in peace. He claimed Vidarbha’s last wicket of the game, and everything proceeded flawlessly,” he said.</p>
