Australia names a team for the home Test series against the West Indies, with Matt Renshaw being called up to replace David Warner

Australia has revealed their 13-man team for the three-match home Test series against the West Indies that begins on January 17 at the Adelaide Oval. Matt Renshaw has been recalled to replace David Warner.
But Cameron Green will return to the starting lineup for the first Test of the series, according to Australia’s chief selector of the National Selection Panel (NSP), George Bailey. This move also raises the possibility that Steve Smith will replace Warner as the opener, partnering with Usman Khawaja.

The long-running argument over who will start once Warner retires as opener has been resolved by Renshaw’s participation in the Test lineup. The Queenslander has defeated Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft to get the position, but it will be intriguing to watch whether Renshaw is given the opportunity or is forced to warm the bench since Smith is expected to take Smith’s place at the top.

In addition, Bailey said that Scott Boland and Renshaw would both play for their Big Bash League (BBL) teams until they join the Test squad in time for the first Test in Adelaide.

“Matthew Renshaw and Scott Boland will be included in Cameron Green’s starting XI for the Test match in Adelaide. We think that the six hitters on our squad are the greatest in the nation.

Bailey was cited by as stating, “Scott Boland and Matt Renshaw will join the squad prior to the first Test after playing for the Melbourne Stars (Jan 15) and Brisbane Heat (Jan 13) in the BBL.”
