Stone’s portrayal won praise from critics, and it was expected that Robbie, whose part in Barbie also attracted notice from around the world, would present a fierce rival. Greta Gerwig, the film’s director, broke many records and made $1.44 billion globally.

As Christopher Nolan defeated filmmaker Lanthimos for “Oppenheimer,” Poor Things went on to win the Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy. In the categories of Best Director – Motion Picture, Best Male Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Original Score, the epic biographical thriller took up four honors.

Ricky Gervais, the former host of the Golden Globes and co-creator of The Office, has won the Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television award for his Netflix show Armageddon. This year’s award season has officially begun at the Golden Globes, where Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is leading the way with nine nominations, closely followed by Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer with eight.
